Crazy/Love – 1st month.

Welcome back!

Wow, another month that has gone by that fast.  I cannot begin to express how amazing the first four chapters of crazy love have been! In fact, we are still focusing on chapter 4 (profile of the lukewarm) because it has been so impacting and detailed.

So far we’ve covered: Chapter 1 – Stop Praying, Chapter 2 – You might not finish this chapter, Chapter 3 – Crazy Love and as mentioned Chapter 4 – Profile of the lukewarm.

Our Wednesday group is full of fellowship, worship, discussion, challenges and prayer.  We encourage all college-age to come out  to Destiny Church every Wednesday night and join us!  You may purchase Crazy Love by Francis Chan at any bookstore, Christian bookstore and some Wal-mart locations.  We’re excited to see what God is doing, will do and can do in your life!  Stay tuned to our blog for future updates and events.

Be blessed, ~Tom & Michelle~

New and important info & home fellowship!

As many of you probably know, we are now officially meeting every wednesday night during mid-week fusion! It’s time to press in even further into God’s presence by worshiping with the adults in the family life center and we now have our own designated room for our group.

This is a very exciting time for this ministry so we may stay consistently encouraged and in God’s presence together at least once a week! Our first wednesday night was last week and we focused on 1 Corinthians 13 and had a great time of discussion and prayer.

Next week we will be starting a DVD series based from a book titled crazy/love from pastor Francis Chan. You may visit www.crazylovebook.com for more details and even order the book which follows the DVD (and vice versa).

Also this Sunday September 26, 2010 we are having a home fellowship at the Bell’s home!  We’re starting at 6:30pm with food and fellowship and yes swimming!  We’re looking forward to seeing everyone there.

Be blessed and we are very excited for the new things the Lord is doing with this ministry.  See you there!  ~Tom~

Summer 2010

Has it been that long since the last blog update? All I can truly say is I sincerely apologize and we all fall short of updating our ministry blog…..haha.Thank you for baring with me while summer started, and now is about to end…if I may say finally (I’m ready for the cool weather).

Summer was great because we started our engage small group series. Michelle & I were seeking great resources through a small group study book and ran across a series titled “Connect the dots”. Author Mike Hurt titled the book: “Discovering God’s ongoing will in your life” which we felt was perfect for our amazing group!

We met every Wednesday night at Destiny Church after praise and worship. The multiple sessions included:

Beyond the big three” (Does God really want to answer my big questions?)

The Nature of God’s will” (What am I looking for anyway?)

God’s will for everyday” (How can I hear God’s voice?)

God’s will in all seasons” (What about fleeces, doors and signs?)

God’s will through His Spirit” (How does the Holy Spirit help me find God’s will?)

God’s will through Community” (Is it OK to listen to other people?)

The silence of God” (What about when there’s nothing to hear?)

This entire series was very challenging and encouraging. We learned different things about what we are meant to do in God’s will and how to do it. One of my favorite quotes from the author was from the second chapter: “If you search for God’s will without ever consulting His word, you will never find what you are looking for.”

Every chapter ended in a great small group discussion, encouragement and an amazing time in prayer. At the same time we had fun with our home fellowship here in Boerne, TX.

After such a great summer series our prayer is: that everyone in our group can deepen their walk with Christ to where He will show them His ongoing will in their lives. This also has encouraged us in our walks to expand the vision for the engage ministry! Please stay tuned for new (and more frequent) blog updates and be blessed!

March Fellowship!

Welcome back to the engage blog!

My apologies for the late blog post, Michelle and I just got back from Nebraska the other night.  We were visiting my family.

Our next fellowship is Sunday March 28th, 2010!  Same time and same place (Our home in Boerne, 7:00pm)

After Michelle and I playing a few songs and myself giving a message at my home Church in Minden, NE I felt a burden about reconnecting with God. My message was about God’s love for us and how we need to get back to basics in the chaos of every day life.

Maybe it was because going back home made me think of my humble beginnings in that small town. I spoke of the first bible verse I memorized (John 3:16) and elaborated on others.

After 2 long drives on this trip I had time to think and I came to the conclusion: God wants us to reconnect with Him.  If you’ve been distant from Him for a long time or have not connected with Him for a week, He wants you to get back with Him!  God desires our hearts to be connected with His and what better way to do so by finding your connection with Him?

I’ll be either writing more or speaking more on this subject again soon!

Be Blessed and we’re excited to see everyone for our next fellowship, ~Tom~

February Fellowship!

Thank you for visiting the engage blog!

Our next fellowhip is Sunday, February 21st starting at 7:00 pm.  We are meeting at our home (Tom and Michelle’s) located in Boerne, TX.

If directions are needed please contact us at engage@destinychurch.cc  we will be happy to provide directions. Please come ready to fellowship, eat, and bring your bibles….we will be getting into God’s amazing word!

This week’s verse of encouragement:

Deuteronomy 31:6.  Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.

Moses spoke these words to the Israelites when his people were about to cross the Jordan river.  At that time, Moses turned 120 years old and God spoke to him to step down as a leader. Such a simple but powerful message from his mouth speaks great encouragement and truth into our lives.

When you’re about to “cross a river”, remember that God is with you at all times. He is your strength and courage.   He loves you so much that He will never leave you or fail you.  In fact, as Christians we are not meant to live in fear!  So be encouraged by His word and hold fast to Christ.

We’re looking forward to this month’s fellowship!   ~Tom & Michelle~

Engage

Welcome to the engage ministry blog!

This blog is intended to keep you updated and informed of the recent news and upcoming events of the engage ministry at destiny church! Here is the purpose and vision of the ministry:

Meet New Friends
Engage is a great place to meet other College-age singles and make lasting Christian friendships.  God doesn’t want us to live alone and lonely, but, rather, with many friends, strong in faith and victory!  The Bible says that if we want to have friends, we need to be friendly ourselves.  Reach out … there are others reaching out for you!  Remember, you don’t need to be a member of Destiny Church to attend Engage.  If you are single/married, and are in college or are of college age, then you are welcome!

Encourage And Be Encouraged
Engage fellowships provide a wonderful opportunity to receive encouragement from our leadership team as well as from other singles.  Leaders Tom and Michelle Beck are ready to help you become stronger in your faith.  Each discussion yields new courage, determination, and fresh fire as Engage participants are invited to share their faith with one another.

Deepen Your Walk
Have you ever wondered why you are here on this earth?  Engage will help you explore your purpose and calling, and help you to grow in your walk with the Lord.  Our prayer is that everyone participating in Engage will have a deeper walk and increasingly solid faith in God and His Word.

Serve God With Other Believers
One of our goals with the Engage ministry is to provide opportunities for College-age singles to minister to the needs of others, both in the surrounding community of San Antonio and in other places and nations.  Throughout the year, outreaches and missions are planned and organized to help singles fulfill their calling for service in the House of God as well as to unreached and unpastored people.

Stay tuned for the next blog/update…and be blessed in Jesus name!

Tom and Michelle
