Has it been that long since the last blog update? All I can truly say is I sincerely apologize and we all fall short of updating our ministry blog…..haha.Thank you for baring with me while summer started, and now is about to end…if I may say finally (I’m ready for the cool weather).
Summer was great because we started our engage small group series. Michelle & I were seeking great resources through a small group study book and ran across a series titled “Connect the dots”. Author Mike Hurt titled the book: “Discovering God’s ongoing will in your life” which we felt was perfect for our amazing group!
We met every Wednesday night at Destiny Church after praise and worship. The multiple sessions included:
“Beyond the big three” (Does God really want to answer my big questions?)
“The Nature of God’s will” (What am I looking for anyway?)
“God’s will for everyday” (How can I hear God’s voice?)
“God’s will in all seasons” (What about fleeces, doors and signs?)
“God’s will through His Spirit” (How does the Holy Spirit help me find God’s will?)
“God’s will through Community” (Is it OK to listen to other people?)
“The silence of God” (What about when there’s nothing to hear?)
This entire series was very challenging and encouraging. We learned different things about what we are meant to do in God’s will and how to do it. One of my favorite quotes from the author was from the second chapter: “If you search for God’s will without ever consulting His word, you will never find what you are looking for.”
Every chapter ended in a great small group discussion, encouragement and an amazing time in prayer. At the same time we had fun with our home fellowship here in Boerne, TX.
After such a great summer series our prayer is: that everyone in our group can deepen their walk with Christ to where He will show them His ongoing will in their lives. This also has encouraged us in our walks to expand the vision for the engage ministry! Please stay tuned for new (and more frequent) blog updates and be blessed!
~Tom & Michelle~
